I am still drying out after the Church Fete - but, despite the atrocious weather, our stall was well supported and we made over £100, so thank you to all members who donated plants and "braved" the elements.

We have enjoyed two garden visits so far this year and last week, yet again, we got soaked to the skin visiting Tony Spillers garden!!! However, armed with umbrellas we were able see all his lovely flowers, fruit and vegetables, a beautiful array of birds and the beehives (if not the bees!), before enjoying a wonderful buffet supper provided by Tony's wife. What a wonderful evening it would have been if only the sun had shone for us. Our final garden visit is on 13 August when we are going to Sutton Trial Grounds (well worth a visit according to Tony). Please meet in the Public Car Park, Hemyock ready to leave at 5.30 pm.

A reminder that the Autumn Show is in the Parish Hall on 6 September at 2.30 pm - an opportunity to see the "fruits" of our labours in the garden! In the hope of attracting more entrants, for the children in the village, up to 16 years, we have gone for a slightly different theme; a colouring competition. Sheets are available from the porch of St Mary's Church.

On the 10 September we will resume our monthly meetings in the Parish Hall and our speaker will be Mrs Benger and her subject is "A Passion for Plants". We look forward to seeing all "old" and "new" members then!

If ever the weather decides to remember that it is supposed to be summer, enjoy your gardening.
