Hemyock Acorns meet at 2.45pm on the third Wednesday of each month. It is a club for anyone aged 55 or over Subscription is only £5 per year. Interesting speakers are followed by free tea and biscuits and there is always an excellent raffle.
In April Brian Clist spoke about Hemyock from the time of the Doomsday Book to the present time. In May Chris Draycott was a great success with his talk about his life in the Metropolitan Police and in June all were interested in Stephen Sylvester talking about Children's Books and TV programmes.... he used to make the whistle tones of some of the Clangers. He also showed off his
Bevan Boy Badge which has recently been awarded for their efforts working in the coal mines during the war. Sue Gould enlightened members about the excellent work with disabled children being done at Vranch House in Exeter. This was in July so we are now looking forward to a Quiz in August and in September Mr and Mrs R Whiteside will give an illustrated talk entitled Wildside Education. Visitors and new members will be made welcome.
