A capacity crowd enjoyed an exceptional Ceilidh at Hemyock village hall on Friday evening. The evening which is fast becoming an established annual event is organised by Hemyock Baptist Church and the entertainment reflected the all age gathering.

Notable was the bell plate ringing by Chapel Chimes, piano playing by junior school pupils Timmy & Johnny Atkinson, and some Scottish melodies by Clarinettist David Berkley with Nigel Atkinson on accordion. "It’s easy when you know the way" was the acting debut for members of the leadership team which was both humorous and thought provoking. Some energetic country dancing was led by the Lucy Elastic Band and when everyone took to the floor it was, as one dancer put it, "very close fellowship".

"An excellent event which typifies village life" said District Councillor Frank Rosamund who attended with his wife Marie. "My congratulations to the Church for organising an event which appeals to such a broad cross section of the community". The popular Easter Monday Ramble is the next event in the Church’s community diary.

Chapel Chimes performs at the Ceilidh. From left to right at rear : Adele Webb, Alice Doble, Monica Doble, Hazel Reed (leader), Maureen Aylwin & Kathy Chatfield. At front: Emma Doble, Rhiannon Webb, Alice Chandra, Antonia Doble & Hayley Chatfield.
