Heavy showers again caused raw sewage to overflow into Longmead the Hemyock housing estate on Tuesday.

Resident Don Attlee called South West water whose agent May Gurney promised to attend and clear up within the same day. Nothing had happened by the following morning Wednesday. South West Water were again contacted by Mr Attlee who reported to him that the raw sewage was a ‘private matter’ and May Gurney had refused to clear the area despite it being a drain in a public thoroughfare. The drain is close to the recently opened childrens play area and the Longmead playing fields where children congregate.

Heather Stallard Chairman of the Parish Council said ‘this again highlights the council’s real concern about infrastructure. A further development of 23 homes is in the planning process at the moment and this leakage in further evidence that Hemyock’s sewage is failing to cope with the existing needs’.
