Pupils from Hemyock Primary School, along with 7 other local primary schools, attended Cullompton Community College last Tuesday to take part in the Enterprise Challenge.

The youngsters worked in mixed teams of five in a race against time to design and produce market clown mobiles for babies' cots with limited resources.

Amanda Farmer, assistant principal at Cullompton Community College, who organised the event, said: "This was an innovative and problem-solving approach to delivering the Every Child Matters agenda to our local primary schools and developing their business and enterprise skills."

The day was led by seven teachers at the college and their Year 10 Business Studies assistants taught the Year 6 pupils the enterprise skills they needed.

Jess Storey, one of the year-10 assistants, said: "The children got an insight into business and enterprise and got an idea about working with people they didn't know which they will have to do in secondary school."
