Hemyock Baptist Church will be celebrating Freedom Day on Sunday with a live satellite link up to Cambodia.
The day recognises the end of legalised slavery, and to mark the occasion the church will receive a talk by Helen Sworn, an expert on modern slavery issues, live from Cambodia.
Helen runs Chab Dai (Joining Hands) a coalition of Christian organisations committed to ending sexual abuse and trafficking. She will be talking about how slavery continues in the modern world. The satellite service, starting at 11am, is open to everyone and there will be a creche and junior church for young people.
Pastor Steven Reed said: "We are celebrating the end of a legalised slave trade 200 years ago, but can we really celebrate when in reality the slave trade, whilst no longer legal, continues unabated?"
